At Sonoma County Junk Removal, we pride ourselves on taking about 99% of what our customers need hauled away. However, for the safety of our crew and the protection of the environment, there are some items we legally cannot accept.
Strictly Prohibited Hazardous Materials
These items require specialized handling at hazardous waste facilities and cannot be mixed with general junk:
- Wet Paint: We cannot take liquid paint. However, if the paint is completely dried out (you can use kitty litter to speed this up), we can take the cans.
- Chemicals & Solvents: Pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, and industrial cleaners.
- Fuel & Oil: Gasoline, motor oil, propane tanks (full or empty), and kerosene.
- Asbestos: This requires a specialized abatement team due to the health risks of airborne fibers.
- Bio-Medical Waste: Needles, medical supplies, and biological materials.
Items That Require Special Handling (But We Can Often Take)
Some items are allowed but may incur extra fees or require specific preparation:
- Tires: Landfills charge extra for tires, so we pass that small fee along.
- Appliances with Freon: Refrigerators and AC units must be handled according to EPA regulations.
- Electronics (E-Waste): TVs, computers, and monitors are recycled at specialized facilities.
