Where to Donate Furniture in Sonoma County
Find the right local nonprofit for your old couch, table, or dresser.
You are upgrading your living room. You have a couch that is still in good shape. Throwing it away feels wrong. Donating it keeps it out of the landfill and helps someone else.
What Nonprofits Accept
Charities are strict. They do not want your trash. If a couch has rips, stains, or pet smells, they will reject it. They only take items they can sell in their thrift stores. Ask yourself: would I buy this for a friend? If the answer is no, it belongs at the dump.
Top Donation Spots in Sonoma County
- Goodwill of the Redwood Empire: They have a large drop-off center on Hopper Ave in Santa Rosa. They take most clean furniture, but no mattresses or large appliances.
- St. Vincent de Paul: Located near Railroad Square in Santa Rosa. They do great work locally and accept clean, usable furniture.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Located on Piner Road in Santa Rosa. They take furniture, appliances, and leftover building materials.
Do They Pick Up?
Some charities offer free pickups. But there is a catch. You usually have to book weeks in advance. And the driver has the final say. If they arrive and decide the item is too worn, they will leave it sitting in your driveway.
When to Call Us
If you need it gone today, or if the charity rejected it, we can help. We sort items on every job. If your furniture is usable, we route it to a local donation center ourselves. If it is beyond saving, we haul it to the transfer station.
