Hot tubs are great for relaxation—until they stop working or you decide you need your deck space back. Removing a hot tub is a complex job that involves electrical work, plumbing, and heavy lifting. Here's how to prepare for when the Sonoma County Junk Removal team arrives.
1. Drain the Tub Completely
The tub must be empty before we can move it. Use a submersible pump or a garden hose to drain the water away from your foundation and neighbors' properties. Make sure the bottom is dry to prevent spills during the move.
2. Disconnect the Power
This is the most critical safety step. Ensure the power is turned off at the main breaker and the disconnect box near the tub. If you aren't comfortable doing this, we highly recommend hiring a licensed electrician. We cannot dismantle a tub that is still live.
3. Clear a Path
Hot tubs are bulky. Our crew needs a clear path at least 3-4 feet wide to move the pieces out. This may involve moving patio furniture, trimming back bushes, or even temporarily removing a fence panel.
4. Let Us Do the Rest
Once the tub is drained and disconnected, our team will take over. We use specialized saws to cut the tub into manageable pieces and haul them away. We even sweep up the debris afterward!
